Rose grew up in Grand Haven and attended WMU after graduating high school. She earned her degree in teaching special education. She taught for 10 years for Community Education in the former Kandu Industries. Rose is married to Steve and they share a common love for working with adults with developmental disabilities. They ran a group home for 12 adults for 3 years. Rose left her teaching job to spend more time with her growing family. She and her husband have six grown children. In 2004 Rose decided to go back to teaching and accepted a position at the Ottawa Area Center. After six years she moved into the Community Based Instruction program operated by Young Adult Services of the OAISD. She retired in 2019 but quickly discovered that she missed her teaching and interaction with adults with disabilities. She became involved with Holland Deacon’s Conference as the Drop-In Program Activities Coordinator in March, 2020. She loves the relationships she is building and the fact that she can do daily devotions with the group. When she is not working, she loves spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons, Max and Caden.
